Dear Wizard Staffers in Charge of Email:

Stop emailing me. I want nothing to do with you.

You have turned a once-decent magazine into a poor man's Maxim for the superhero fetishist. Once, you ran good articles, like an evaluation of the different eras of comics or the attempt to explain Steve Ditko's exile. You were willing to give honest reviews and say when a marquee book wasn't so good. Now, you won't run an article unless it's a promotion or an excuse for increasingly questionable pin-up art (not even good pin-up art), and you'd never dare give a real review lest you lose revenue.

I'm not even gonna go into GCG. Those comic coffins disgust me and show just how little you actually value the content of your source of livelihood.

Still, I could forgive or ignore a lot of this if you had continued to hold good conventions. But with every year you continued to hold the Philly convention, your contempt for your market became more and more naked. Last year, you let the hired goons you outsourced for security practically hold all advance buyers hostage for over an hour. You half-assed it with the panels, and you made a once clear and orderly layout a mangled, crowded, confusing mess.

In short, Wizard people, you've really blown it.

Go away. Stop emailing me and leave me the fuck alone until you clean up your act on all fronts.

Ouch. How the mighty have fallen. I used to read Wizard back in my serious comic book days (When I was still trying to figure out what I actually wanted to read) ten or so years ago, and it wasn't half bad. Apparently, that's no longer the case.

Yeah, magazine-wise, Wizard really stopped trying after they switched their format and had a more typical thin stapled spine. The last time they actually did a good article/interview was a few months before that - Ed Brubaker talked about his criminal background, and they interviewed Wolfman & Perez about "Crisis" behind the scenes. And they used to explain why they'd stop doing full reviews. But with the format switch, that's when you really saw the decline in quality.

AMEN! I was getting their emails constantly until I got a new email account. They are pretty despicable. Between the way they falsely try to inflate comic prices to constantly behaving like "fanboys gone wild" to using the advanced information they get (Cap's death) to profit (by stocking up on the comic and selling at a huge markup). I find them pretty despicable.
